Griggs draws opponent in May election

No one has contested City Councilman Scott Griggs’ seat since his district was redrawn in 2013. He first obtained the seat in 2011, when he ousted incumbent Dave Neumann.

That changes this May, when Griggs will share the ballot with Stephen Winn.

Winn has a degree in government and political science from the University of North Texas and has served on the city’s community development committee since 2015, according to his campaign website. According to his LinkedIn profile, he is a leasing consultant for Grand Peaks.

Griggs is a lawyer who lives in Winnetka Heights. From his campaign website: “Few public officials in Dallas have achieved so much, and received so many awards, as has Scott Griggs. … Scott has distinguished himself as Oak Cliff’s smart, action-oriented leader. He researches issues deeply and then delivers creative solutions others do not think of.”

Both candidates are married, and each has two children.

We’ll have more on this race coming up.
