May is National Bike Month. If you’re out there using your bike already, no one has to tell you it’s a great time to ride.
If your wheels need some love before hitting the road, there are two bike shops that can be considered local to Oak Cliff. Dallas Bike Works has a shop on West Davis at Tyler. And Local Hub, on Main Street in Deep Ellum, is owned by two Oak Cliff residents.
A basic tuneup at either shop costs about $65.
National Bike to Work Week is May 15-19, and the big celebration for bike-to-work day is Friday, May 19. That’s when Bike Friendly Oak Cliff and Dallas Area Rapid Transit will host a “recharging station” with snacks, drinks and swag at the Oakenwald streetcar stop.
Check out DART’s bike-to-work page for help figuring out your transit route and the North Texas Council of Governments’ ride share page for help finding a commute buddy.
