Even though Aunt Stelle’s didn’t open this summer, there are at least five new frozen treat places in Oak Cliff.

Betty Ringer Ice Cream holds its grand opening this week. The shop at Sylvan Thirty makes ice cream in the “French custard style” using only cream, milk, sugar and egg yolks as a base. The party is from 5-9 p.m. Friday. Their hours are noon-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and noon-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

A New Orleans-style snowball place, called NOLA Snoballs, is now open at Jefferson Tower. The shop, from New Orleans native Maureen Ehrlicher and her husband, took the walkup-window space vacated by Carnival Barkers. The shop is open 1-9 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday.

Ice Cream Wasted, a shop offering vegan ice cream mixed with booze, holds a grand opening for its Oak Cliff location  at 509 W. Davis Sunday from noon-6 p.m.

And there are a couple of others in the works as well: A Japanese shaved-ice place is expected to open on West Seventh at Tyler. And another new ice cream place is in the works on Clarendon at Edgefield, in the space vacated by Los Torres taquería.
