It’s the planned 211-acre development on Interstate 30 at Westmoreland that’s partially funded with tax dollars. When completed, it is expected to have 7,500 apartments, 1,000 hotel rooms, 1.2 million square feet of office space and 800,000 square feet of shops and restaurants.

The project could receive as much as $129 million from the City of Dallas in future tax reimbursements. And it received $97 million as part of a legal but shady political maneuver.

The development’s first tenant since developer Stratford Land staged a ceremonial groundbreaking for the project in 2013 opens next month.

Residence Inn by Marriott is expected to open as soon as April 10, more than two years after a second ceremonial groundbreaking.

Back in 2013, real estate brokers Corinth Properties said they were working on leases with Marriott, Denny’s and In-N-Out Burger.

Currently there are two other buildings under construction near the hotel, including the one below, which does appear to have a drive-through. We put a call into Corinth Properties but haven’t heard back yet.
