Facebook quiz: Which Dallas neighborhood are you?

This quiz seems to be a crowd pleaser, according to the discussion it prompted when Advocate blogger Rachel Stone mentioned it on the Lakewood blog. Intrigued, I finally took the quiz — only to find out that it pegged me for a Southlake resident. What?!?

It’s a fun idea, but … more

Oak Cliff Earth Day wrap-up

Driving by Lake Cliff Park this morning, it’s hard to believe that roughly 150 vendors and thousands of people (rough estimates are at 7,500 to 8,0000) were spread out across the grounds yesterday — the park looks as peaceful and clean as ever, save for a few porta-potties still waiting … more

Beckley BrewHouse also … more

Old Oak Cliff Conservation League neighborhood conference next weekend

The league tried this out last year by inviting board members from the 26 neighborhoods it represents, and the conference was such a hit that the league decided to do it again, this time inviting any residents of its member neighborhoods. Best of all, the whole three hours — including … more

Restaurant review: ConFusion

I’ve been wanting to try the new restaurant for some time — Rob Shearer first mentioned it in his October column, and other neighbors sent out the word as soon as they saw the "open" sign in March. I stopped by a few weeks ago for lunch, but a sign … more

Coombs Creek Trail opens this weekend

We talked about the soon-to-come Coombs Creek Trail in our March cover story — it’s the first of many in Oak Cliff to be constructed and completed over the next few years. The 1.5-mile trail, which runs along the creek starting at Beckley and ending near Hampton, officially opens this … more
