Masked men kill clerk in assault-rifle robberies

Two masked men killed a store clerk during a robbery last week, the second of two convenience store holdups they pulled early Friday.

The robbers first hit a 7-Eleven at 5910 Singleton around 3;15 a.m. Sept. 23. They pointed their guns — a handgun and an assault rifle — at employees and demanded money. They stole cash, cigarettes and cigars.

At 4:30 that morning, they held up the Sunshine Food Mart on South Cockrell Hill Road.

During that robbery, they shot and killed the clerk.

Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to call Detective P. Trujillano, 214.471.7916 or give an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers, 214.373.8477, which is offering up to $5,000 for information that least to arrest and indictment.
