A car struck and killed a man trying to cross Hampton Road earlier this week.
He was near the intersection with Illinois when a 2003 Mercedes struck him around 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to NBCDFW. Paramedics with Dallas Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene, but the man, who has not been identified, died.
The driver of the Mercedes was not charged with a crime.
There were several incidents of pedestrians killed by motorists last month in and around our neighborhood.
A 57-year-old woman was killed around 9 a.m. Oct. 18 as she was crossing Davis Street just west of Hampton. The driver told police she couldn’t see the woman, Dora Gonzalez, because the sun was in her eyes, according to the Dallas Morning News. Gonzalez was not in a crosswalk, and the driver wasn’t charged.
The following day, a pedestrian was struck and killed in a crosswalk on East Ledbetter at Corrigan. The driver in that case fled the scene, and police were looking for a man in his 20s driving a white Ford Crown Victoria.
Three people were killed, including a pedestrian, Oct. 9 when a 17-year-old driver rolled a 2015 Chevy Tahoe in West Dallas.
