Dells District neighbor campaigns for Elba Garcia’s city council seat

Daniel Benchot (pictured on the right) was gathering signatures for his name to be placed on the May ballot at yesterday’s Dells District Neighborhood Association meeting. Today begins the city’s official filing period for the 2009-2001 council term. The photo comes courtesy of Dells District resident and new Back Talk Oak Cliff neighborhood blogger, Gay Revi, whose own blog is definitely worth visiting.

Benchot plans to run against former District 1 Park Board member Delia Jasso, who has been campaigning and raising money since last fall. The DMN City Hall blog also reports bids from neighbors Joanne Carroll and Mark Gonzales. All are seeking the District 1 city council seat being vacated this spring by veteran councilman and current mayor pro tem, Elba Garcia.
