10 Footwear is gone

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that 10 Footwear on Davis near Bishop was closed. The store was cleaned out and a sign on the door said they were closed temporarily, but would reopen with new stock. Looks like that’s not going to happen, unfortunately. The building’s owner, Amanda Cross, told me the shop’s owners had to break their two-year lease because their sales just weren’t paying the bills. "I let him out of the lease because I understand that times are hard for small businesses," Cross said.

Too bad. I’m not a sneaker geek, but  10 Footwear, which carried limited edition sneakers, was something a little different for the Bishop Arts District. Cross said she just put a for lease sign up for the space, and she’s looking for another retail tenant.

Amanda did the right thing, IMHO. Expensive sneakers are not a good idea for the Cliff, unfortunately. I wish him very well in his future business.
