Post office closings: None here yet, but we’re watching

The U.S. Postal Service has insisted that it wouldn’t close any post offices, but today it changed its tune and announced that it wants to close 11 in the Dallas area. Of course, here in Oak Cliff, we have the big post office, where they still take your tax return at curbside up to midnight on April 15 (even though the USPS ended 24-hour service there last year). But there are three smaller post offices that could be at risk.

The smaller post offices in Oak Cliff include one on Centre Street, one on East Kiest and one on South Cockrell Hill. We will let you know as soon as we find out whether any of those is closing.
