Foodways Texas is a group of food writers, chefs, foodies and farmers that formed last summer. Their goal is to advocate Texas food and the state’s culinary history.

The group’s first statewide symposium will be at Smoke at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 24. It will be a family-style dinner with gulf coast sea food — shrimp, snapper, oysters. And lots of other bites. Tickets are $75. To buy tickets and see the menu, check out Smoke’s website.
