Oak Fit Dallas will open in a 5,000-square-foot facility, at 730 W. Davis between Vernon and Van Buren, offering group cross training, personal training, yoga, running groups and youth camps.

“The premise of Oak Fit is based around comradery and community,” says owner Ron Incerta, who has worked independently as a personal trainer for nine years. This is his first start-up.

He says he wants Oak Fit to be a place of leadership, accountability and motivation, things he felt were lacking in the neighborhood. The studio will have one large open space with free weights and only a few endurance machines.

“The focus is on measurable and repeatable results as opposed to just paying for access to treadmill,” Incerta says.

Oak Fit should open by late spring. In the meantime, Incerta is offering a free training camp for all fitness levels throughout March at 6 a.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m. Saturdays at the Trinity Levee Overlook at Beckley and Commerce. Bring your own mat and water bottle and dress for the weather, Incerta says, because the workouts will go on, rain or shine (unless there’s lightning or other dangerous conditions). Register in advance online.
