This weekend: Brew Riot, Batgirl day, bike to work

Play Cards Against Humanity, the party game “for horrible people,” starting at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 14 at Ten Bells Tavern.

Friday is national bike to work day. Bike Friendly Oak Cliff hosts an “energizer station” on Zang at Oakenwald from 6:30-9 a.m. with coffee, breakfast tacos and, yes, mariachis to get your legs going.

Yvonne Craig, TV’s original Batgirl, is from Oak Cliff, and Saturday is her birthday, so Red Pegasus Game and Comics is throwing her a party at noon Saturday. Have some cake and watch some Batgirl episodes of “Batman.”

“Alien” is among this weekend’s offerings at the Texas Theatre. They’re also opening “Slow West,” starring Michael Fassbender.

Brew Riot, our neighborhood’s annual home brew competition, is from 4-8 p.m. Sunday. Instead of buying a ticket to taste the brews, you have to become a member of the Texas Homebrew Society, which costs $25. There is also a 1.1-mile beer run, which starts at 3 p.m. at Nova.

Thank you so much for this site!! Wow, what a pleasure that someone is documenting and letting me find out about this great neighborhood. I love history and I love finding out all the wonderful things that have transpired through the years. We have purchased a home to renovate, 314 N. Montclair Ave., and sell.
I am definitely including the wonderful history in my description of the property. I want to sell it to someone who “wants” to be a part of this neighborhood, not just live in a house. Dawn Boyd
