Normally we try to translate the Dallas Police Department’s missives, but we offer this one in its entirety:

On October 28, 2016, at approximately 12:51 a.m., officers were in the area of the 300 block of Centre St investigating an aggravated assault when they heard gun shots nearby. Officers checked the area and observed a male victim severely injured due to being assaulted. The victim did not suffer from any gun shot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Dallas Fire Rescue to be treated for his injuries. The condition of the victim is unknown at this time. This incident will be documented on case number 258410-2016.

How we read that: There was an assault in the 300 block of Centre. The cops on the scene of that crime heard shots nearby and found someone else severely injured as the result of an assault, but that person wasn’t shot.

Now that it’s cool enough to sleep with the windows open, we’re hearing gunshots or police helicopters every night. You?
