The nonprofit estimates that 10-12 percent of its clients identify as LGBT, the Dallas Voice reports. The new home will be for people 18-21 years old, and they can live there for up to two years, receiving counseling and mentorships.

Promise House residents are encouraged to finish high school, attend college, find jobs and learn how to support themselves. The nonprofit has similar residences for young mothers and their children along with a temporary homeless shelter for children.

The LGBT residence is expected to open within a month.
