The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality identified the Kidd Springs Park dam as needing improvements.

The project includes lengthening the dam and creating an emergency spillway, installing protective armor and replacing the sidewalk across the dam. Besides that, the natural spring will be uncovered so that it flows into the lake. The city also is adding new landscaping, a picnic area, a fishing pier and shoreline protection.

Funding for the project comes from 2003 and 2006 bond funds.

Work on the project could begin as soon as next month, and it could be finished in May.
