Josiah Torres, 8, was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma in February 2017.

Since then, he has developed problems walking and using his hands, but he is progressing with therapy.

“From the beginning, Josiah has been a fighter and does not let his illness affect him in any way,” Josiah’s mom, Estella Torres, says. “He does not like to hear ‘he won’t be able to’ or ‘it might take him longer.’  He is determined to prove everyone wrong and maintains an open mind about his illness. Josiah is friendly, caring, enthusiastic, humble, and a bit of a daredevil with a big heart.”

Josiah is one of 22 featured pediatric cancer patients, ages 5 -15, who will model fashions by Dillard’s, escorted by local celebrities, including Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman.

The 2018 gala is Friday, April 27 at the Hyatt Regency Dallas. The night includes a silent auction, a VIP reception and dinner.

It is expected to raise $1 million for Children’s Health and UT Southwestern.
