A crowd-funding campaign announced in November that the store on Jefferson Boulevard was behind on rent, among other financial strains.

That campaign has raised more than $1,300, but it had a goal of $25,000.

The store announced today on Facebook:

It is with a heavy heart and a lot of sadness that we announce that this bookstore will be closing for good next Tuesday or Wednesday unless one or more of our neighbors here in Oak Cliff steps forward immediately to continue it. Or we see a sudden surge in our GoFundMe campaign that approaches the goal there.

If you have store credit and/or gift certificates with us, these will be honored at either of our other locations that will continue to be open their normal hours.

I regret that I have not been able to do a better job of attracting more books and building this bookstore beyond its current plateau. I sincerely hope that someone can see the potential here and come take it to the next level. We will be happy to help that happen in any way that we can.
