ORIGINAL POST: Several people robbed a couple at gunpoint outside their home in Oak Cliff Sunday morning.

Caroline Scharton published security camera video to an Oak Cliff crime watch Facebook group. The footage shows Scharton and her husband walking their dog at about 12:30 a.m.

A black car pulls up and parks before three men get out, one of them pointing  a long gun at the couple, who take a few steps back and then cower in the grass in terror. The victims were hit in the face and head with guns.

The attackers point guns at the victims while the husband attempts to cover his wife’s body. A fourth person exits the car and walks toward them until the victims’ dog approaches her. The robbers take something and get back in the car and drive off.

The dog runs to its owners, and all three cower together until the car is out of range.

Scharton updated her original post to say the attackers have been arrested in a suburb east of Dallas:

The 4 black male minors and 1 female minor that held us up at gun point were apprehended by mesquite PD. The car was a stolen Chevy Malibu that had numerous loaded guns inside. I cannot thank the Mesquite and Dallas Police Departments enough for their incredibly fast and amazing police work. I am truly proud and honored to have these brave men and women serving our city.

We are checking those details, but an aggravated robbery conviction alone could result in a sentence of up to 99 years in prison if tried as an adult.

The Oak Cliff robbery happened in the driveway between new homes that sell for around $600,000 across the street from Rosemont’s lower campus. The couple told TV stations that all the robbers managed to take was the wife’s cellphone.

The Schartons say they were injured in the attack.

Here are the three other crimes, all occurring after midnight Sunday, that police say are connected to this one:

A man was carjacked for a black Chevy Malibu at an apartment complex on West Pentagon Parkway near Westmoreland.

Six people in a black Chevy pulled up to a man who was walking home in the 900 block of Elsbeth, near Magnolia on Zang apartments, and robbed him at gunpoint. One of them also punched him.

The attack that was caught on video happened next.

After that, police say, the six robbed a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver on Crow Creek Circle in Oak Park Estates. The victim in that case was beaten and robbed of the cash he was carrying.

They drove to Mesquite, where police attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled. Police chased the car until it crashed into a fence in a neighborhood near U.S. Highway 80 and Galloway. Police confirmed that “weapons were recovered,” but no other details were released. All of the suspects, who are under 18, were taken to jail in Dallas.
