The Sunset High School robotics team received $1,000 from a team at Methodist Dallas Medical Center that uses robots during surgery.
The hospital completed its 100th Whipple procedure recently. The surgery treats pancreatic cancer using minimally invasive robotics so that patients recover faster and can enter chemotherapy sooner.
The donation to Sunset robotics was presented at a dinner honoring 20 pancreatic cancer survivors.
