An 11-year-old boy accidentally shot his 5-year-old brother while playing with a loaded gun in their home Friday.
The shooting happened at about 6:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Stella Avenue, in the Cedar Crest area.
The pistol belonged to the boys’ parents, whose mother had left them in the care of an 18-year-old relative at the time of the shooting
When the gun went off, the bullet ricocheted off the ground and grazed the younger boy in the back, KDFW reports. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. It is unclear whether the parents will be charged with a crime.
