Jesse Verdín spun this shop off of a rolled ice cream place, Below Zero, which he opened on Westmoreland at Illinois a couple of years ago. Adding frozen daiquiris to the menu last year brought in way more profits.

He had planned to bring rolled ice cream to Bishop Arts too, but instead, he expanded the frozen drinks menu and went all in on daiquiris to go.

Boozy Dallas Daiquiris To Go opened last November, when coronavirus restrictions were still in place and many were staying home.

“When everything was shut down, that’s what actually made it boom,” Verdín says. “That helped me, for the most part.”

The daiquiri shop serves about a dozen flavors, including horchata, peach and hurricane. But the most popular are mango, watermelon and sour apple.

Chamoy can be added to anything — watermelon with chamoy is a top seller. And flavors can be mixed.

The frozen drinks cost $10 for 16 ounces, $20 for 24 ounces and $25 for a half gallon.

The shop also sells micheladas to go ($16), in original, cucumber and mango.

Besides drinks, this is also a snack shop, offering such delicacies as Cheetos Flamin’ hot with ballpark nacho cheese served on a polystyrene plate.

Verdín, 25, graduated from Molina High School in 2014, and he also owns a BYOB after-hours club called Luxe. He says entrepreneurship came naturally to him since many of his family members are business owners as well.

“I love the energy here in the community,” he says.
