An alleged matricide in Oak Cliff over the Thanksgiving holiday had made the New York Post and the Daily Mail by Sunday morning.
Aime Salinas-Alvarado, 47, was found dead of a single gunshot wound just after 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, at her home in the Mountain View area.
Police say her 15-year-old son has confessed to the crime.
DPD officers responded to a call of child abandonment on McLean Avenue, near Martin Weiss Park. The residents told police their 2-year-old grandchild had been dropped off without notice and that the child should’ve been with her grandmother, Salinas-Alvarado.
A welfare check led police to the scene on Lynnacre Drive.
“Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the victim’s 15-year-old juvenile son had shot and killed her and took the child to the great-grandparent’s home after committing the offense,” a DPD blog post states.
It is unclear how the boy is related to Salinas-Alvarado’s grandchild.
He drove the child to her great-grandparents’ home before driving to a friend’s house, according to the police. They say he was arrested without incident, gave a full confession and will be charged with capital murder.
