Dallas Fire Rescue found a man dead after extinguishing a house fire Saturday morning.

Firefighters arrived in the 1600 block of West Illinois at about 10:30 a.m. and put out a fire with heavy smoke coming from a bedroom.

The man, who has not been identified, was found after the smoke cleared. An uninjured dog also was found and taken to Dallas Animal Services, according to the Dallas Morning News.

DFR hadn’t determined the cause of the fire Saturday but a spokesman said it didn’t appear suspicious.
