Dallas Police Department Officers responded to a shooting call Monday morning that resulted in one dead.

At around 12:04 a.m, DPD got a call about a shooting at Cantera Crossing Apartments at 2727 W. Jefferson. Officers found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot.

The victim, 25-year-old Eric Montes, was transported to a local hospital where he died shortly after arrival.

Montes told police that he and a witness were approached by a man demanding money.

When they said they didn’t have any, the suspect shot Montes, stole his cellphone and ran south of the location. 

The shooter wore dark pants and a dark long-sleeve shirt with white tennis shoes, according to the witness.
