The park will be built in two phases, with the first development being around 12,500 square feet with 11 skate features. The second phase will eventually be built onto the first phase, although a timeline has not been determined.

The renderings were created by Newline Skateparks, a design and construction firm that has developed skate parks across the United States and Canada. The company has built multiple parks in the DFW area, including Arlington, Frisco and McKinney.

In the first phase, the park layout will distinguish a low speed zone, a medium to high speed zone and a bowl zone.  The different speed zones and features are planned to allow for all-wheels and all skill level users to take advantage of the park.

The design plans come in advance of the next bond package which will be on the 2024 ballot. In a November 2022 community meeting, city of Dallas Project Manager Jared White said the parks department will likely look to the bond for funding.

But private funds are being raised as well, in hopes of speeding up the process. Between a birthday fundraiser held by District 1 City Council member Chad West, anonymous donations and donation matching, nearly $10,000 has been raised for the parks early stages.

According to West, the city has committed to matching up to $400,000 in privately raised funds in 2023 to pay for the first phase of the skate park. And now that graphics of the park are available, West and other skate park advocates hope to target naming sponsors and make progress on other fundraising efforts.

Once plans for the park design have been finalized, designs for spectator seating, landscaping and entry and exit methods will be added into the plans.
