The Dallas Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect responsible for abducting a 7-year-old girl Sunday afternoon.

Police say the girl, who has been identified as Lillie Anderson,  and her 9-year-old brother left an apartment in the 1500 block of Argentina Drive Sunday afternoon. They were walking when they were approached by a man in a gray crossover type vehicle.

The man offered the children a ride, police say. He appeared to be around 30-years-old.

At around 12:15 p.m., the man drove the children to a store in the area of West Kiest Boulevard at South Polk Street and the boy got out of the car to go inside. When he turned around, the suspect had left the location with Anderson, police say.

According to officials the boy was found in the parking lot by a witness who called police, and an investigation began.

An AMBER Alert for Anderson was issued at 6:45 p.m.

Anderson was found six hours later at 12:40 a.m. walking up a sidewalk in the apartment complex the children had left earlier that day. Anderson was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

Police say no vehicle was seen dropping Anderson off at the apartment complex, and anyone with information about the suspect or the vehicle used in the kidnapping is asked to call 214-671-4268.

The FBI and Secret Service are aiding DPD in the investigation.
