Just like that, 2024 is here. I hope all of you found some time to relax and rejuvenate with friends and family. Dallas ISD has been incredibly busy; you can find updates on all the happenings below:
Dallas ISD District 7 Monthly Updates
Local legend Trinidad “Trini” Garza memorialized: Recently, Dallas lost a pioneer and trailblazer in Trini Garza. Trini was the first Hispanic Dallas ISD school board member and spent his life advocating for Mexican American and Hispanic representation across the city of Dallas and far beyond. We are proud to have a school named after him – Trinidad “Trini” Garza Early College – here in District 7. Trini’s legacy will continue to ripple throughout our community and the world for eternity.
Dallas ISD Names Master Principals: Congratulations to all of Dallas ISD’s master principals, designated as the top 10% in the district, many of whom are here in District 7! Special congratulations to Ida Escobedo (Henderson Elementary), Caroline Wilson (Bowie Elementary), Stephanie Amaya (Adamson High), Nikki Hudson (Stockard Middle), David Lee (Garcia Middle), and Jesus Martinez (Sunset High).
Construction Updates:
- Rosemont Upper Campus: Construction crews have returned to Rosemont Upper Campus and the contractor has begun mobilization and pre-construction. All is still on track for completion of the majority of the project by November 2024.
- Old Adamson High School: Dallas ISD is currently waiting on engineering costs to determine feasibility and next steps. This is expected in January or soon thereafter.
- New bond representative: I am proud to announce that Ray de los Santos has been appointed to be District 7’s representative on the 2020 Bond Taskforce. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to him at rsantos@lnesc.org.
