A 17-year-old Carter High School student is dead after being shot in Cedar Crest, near Kiest Boulevard and Illinois Avenue.
According to Dallas police, officials responded to a shooting call in the 2700 block of Easter Avenue around 8:50 p.m. Feb. 25. When police arrived to the scene, they found a crashed car with Keymere McCriston inside the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.
McCriston and a passenger, who was injured during the crash, were taken to a local hospital where McCriston died from his injuries, according to police. An investigation is ongoing, and officials said they believe both teens were shot during a robbery.
No suspects have been named at this time.
Dallas ISD confirmed to Fox4 that McCriston was a student at Carter High School, where he played football. The district and school have not released any additional information or statement regarding McCriston’s death.
