National Dinosaur Day is June 1, and the Dallas Zoo is celebrating with dino-themed fun throughout the zoo this weekend.
Guests this weekend can get $1 off each ticket to Destination: Dinosaurs, which is one of the largest immersive dinosaur exhibits in the country.
The zoo will extend the dinosaur-themed activities throughout the park with fossil rubbings, dino story time, costumed characters, a scavenger hunt to find the living descendants of dinosaurs, and more.
Destination: Dinosaurs features more than 100 dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes, nearly 40 animatronic dinosaurs, a dinosaur cave, and more. The exhibit opened on March 2 and will run through Sept. 30.
There will be delicious themed food specials this weekend, including pterodactyl legs (turkey legs), dinosaur eggs (risotto fritters), dino dirt cups (chocolate pudding, crushed cookies, with a dino gummy), and dinosaur-shaped rice crispy treats.
After suffering extensive tree damage in early Tuesday morning storms, the zoo was closed Tuesday but reopened to the public with a delayed opening on Wednesday.
Tickets can be purchased online at the Dallas Zoo website.Â
