Youth basketball clinic hosted by pro basketball trainer Tim Martin

The Mark Cuban Heroes Basketball Center will host the Tim Martin Basketball Clinic on Friday, Aug. 9, for boys and girls ages 6-17. Designed for budding to advanced student athletes, the co-ed clinic will offer two classes from 10-11 a.m. (ages 6-12) and 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (ages 13-17). Registration is required and space is limited.

The clinic will be led by basketball savant Tim Martin – who has trained NBA standouts including Tyrese Maxey, Trae Young, Dwayne Wade, P.J. Washington, Melvin Ajinça and now Victor Wembanyama – along with his team of coaches. The sessions will offer instruction focused on shooting, rebounding, dribbling, passing, defensive tactics and team concepts – all in a fun, positive and fast-paced environment.

Cost to attend the Tim Martin Basketball Clinic is $10 for students who are enrolled in Heroes programs and $50 for students who are not enrolled. To register, go to markcubanheroescenter.org.

Free graffiti Art Class

Henry’s Majestic has launched a new monthly workshop series, and the theme for August is “Graffiti is Art.”

Join graffiti artist Ferfetz at Henry’s Majestic on Sunday, August 18 at 2:00 p.m. and create your own guided original piece of art while sipping on some killer Ilegal Mezcal cocktails inspired by the street art of today.

There is no charge to attend but you must RSVP as space is limited. Henry’s Majestic is located at 2303 Pittman Street. Reserve a table to eat/drink through OpenTable, and reservations for the class can be made here. Valet and ample self-parking is available, but rideshare is encouraged.

Weekly Poker Night

Also at Henry’s Majestic, a weekly poker night takes place every Tuesday night at 7 p.m.

Texas Hold’em is the game and it’s always free to play. It’s self deal, with every player taking a turn dealing.  The starting stack is $10K and as blinds go up, players start going out due to losing their chips. If you run out of chips, you can buy a $10 gift card to get back in the game. This card goes towards the tab of the player – like prepaying for a tab at a restaurant/bar. You don’t have to be an expert to play – just hop on a table and get ready to put on your best poker face.

General admission registration is $50, which will include a Central Pointe swag bag, Friday evening dinner, as well as breakfast and lunch on Saturday. VIP registration, which is $65, includes a swag bag, a private dinner area for Friday and lunch on Saturday, a VIP picture area, and special hors d’oeuvres.

While online registration is sold out, attendees will be able to register at the door.
