A woman is facing robbery and murder charges after she fatally shot a store clerk in Dallas on July 8, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Police charged 29-year-old Aleigha Horn with capital murder for the death of 52-year-old Inayath Syed.
The shooting occurred at A&A Mart in the 300 block of S. Marsalis Avenue at about 5:45 a.m. on Monday, July 8, the police department said in a news release. Syed was working as a cashier.
Video from inside the store shows Horn placing a bottle of water on the counter. Horn and Syed appear to argue, and then she pulls out a handgun, the police document states. Horn can be seen on video shooting Syed in the neck and then walking out of the store with the water.
Syed was rushed to Methodist Dallas Medical Center in critical condition.
Horn was initially charged with aggravated robbery of a business. The charges against her were upgraded after Syed died from his injuries last Monday, a week after the shooting.
