Two of the best football programs in Texas high school football will face each other on Friday night in a massive non-district test.
Duncanville and South Oak Cliff are both ranked No. 2 in the state in their respective classifications and will square off Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Kincaide Stadium.
Both teams played for state championships a year ago, with Duncanville winning 6A-Division I, and South Oak Cliff falling to Port Neches-Groves in the 5A-Division II title game. This year, both teams are expected to return to AT&T Stadium to play for another championship. Friday night will be a huge test for both teams as they prepare for their district slates and playoff runs.
The game will be broadcast live on streaming platform WFAA+, which is available on Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV. You can also watch the game on WFAA.com, or the WFAA YouTube channel.
The Golden Bears have a change at the quarterback position as senior Carter Kopecky takes over. Reggie McNeal will also play a major role as a wide receiver as Damond Williams and Levon Morton will share time in the backfield and will run behind a talented offensive line.
Right tackle Emeka Ugorji is committed to Stanford, right guard Brian Swanson is a superstar sophomore who is being heavily recruited, and center Brison Ramsey-Brooks is a 6’4 330-pound center. Left guard Byron Abner is committed to Army, and left tackle Courtavious Tisaby is a junior with 14 scholarship offers.
SOC head coach Jason Todd led the team to titles in 2021 and 2022 and wants to re-assert the Golden Bears as the top team in 5A-Div. II this season.
The Golden Bears’ season got off to a bit of a rough start as they were shut out by North Shore last Friday 38-0. The team will have the chance to redeem themselves in a big way if they can pull off a win against Duncanville.
