On Wednesday evening, Oak Cliff residents gathered at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center for an End of Year Town Hall where D1 Councilmember Chad West and other city officials gave updates on key topics in the neighborhood.

2024 Election
Dallas voters approved 16 of 18 City Charter amendments, including Prop D, which allows the city to move its election date to November pending state approval.
Oak Farms Transportation Corridor Study
With recent approval of $30 million in State bridge funds for the viaducts, collaboration with TxDOT will determine if/how study outcomes may be integrated with planned rehabilitation efforts
• Proposal to convert Houston Viaduct into non- vehicular traffic and convert Jefferson Blvd. Viaduct into two-way car traffic only
• 6 different street realignment options
• Proposal to extend streetcar to Dallas Zoo (two alignment options)
Far West Oak Cliff Task Force
The objective of the Far West Oak Cliff Taskforce (FWOCT) is to determine opportunities for development, historic preservation, and quality of life in the Far West Oak Cliff area.
Preliminary findings include

• Commercial/Corridor Revitalization
• Neighborhood Capacity Building
• Dallas College Mountain View
• Green/Open Space Development
• Neighborhood and Area Planning
Founders & Lake Cliff Park Vision Group

Martin Weiss Community Pool Survey Results
The October 1, 2024 – October 31, 2024 survey was created to gauge feedback on renovations for the pool and received 135 responses. These are the results:
• In 2023, 82 (61%) of all respondents visited the pool once or ore within a given 30-day period.
• 68 of the 82 respondents (83%) who visited the pool were there to swim for fun. Of those 82 respondents, 27 (33%) were also there for swimming lessons or exercise.
• 87 (64%) of all 135 respondents have children in their homes.
• Respondents expressed a strong preference for having the pool open as much as possible and offering swim lessons.
Southern Gateway Deck Park
In September, the Southern Gateway Public Green Foundation announced a historic $23 million grant from the Halperin Foundation to complete phase one of the bridge park over Interstate 35. This transformational gift will lead to the park being officially named Halperin Park.
Oak Cliff Skate Park
The initiative for the skate park has raised $160k, with $240k to go. $1M of the 2024 Bond will go towards Phase II of the skatepark.
