“No one gets a crowd moving by Sabor Puro, usually because lead singer Sylvia Paola Ortiz is in the crowd herself. At almost every one of their shows, she exits the stage to groove her way through the crowd, finding a new dance partner at every step and leaving a trail of smiles in her wake.”

“Championed by Oritz’s charisma, Sabor Puro remains one of the best tickets in town.” – the Oak Cliff Advocate, January 2024.

It was true then, it’s true now, and it’ll remain true until hometown cumbia band Sabor Puro decides to put down their instruments. But by the looks of it, that won’t be happening anytime soon.

This week, the band released their first original single, “Eztrellas Brillantez,” ahead of a full debut album set to release in 2025.

The track is lays out a silky cumbia groove with a subtle bit of electronic infusion that’s sure to be heard at summer parties across the metroplex next year. The band describes this sound as ‘Dallas Cumbia,’ differentiating themselves from ultra-traditional acts but also from straightforward pop.

“Eztrellas Brillantez” can be heard on all platforms, and Sabor Puro can be seen live next Friday, November 15, at The Arts Community Alliance’s Flor y Canto event.
