According to Dallas Fire-Rescue, their department received a call about a fire at 3:43 p.m. at a recycling plant at 4141 Singleton Blvd. Responding firefighters reported a heavy fire with a thick column of smoke. Crews used multiple hand lines and aerial ladders to spray water onto the blaze to get it under control, DFR said.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the building was occupied by Metropolitan Recycling, and crews were at the location and trying to determine what caused the blaze.

Around 6:45 p.m., the department said there were still several hot spots remaining, and an excavator was requested to dig through the debris and extinguish them fully.

As a precaution, Dallas Fire-Rescue’s HazMat team was called to the scene, however they confirmed that “no hazardous materials were involved in the fire.”

The cause of the blaze was undetermined as of Sunday evening, officials said.
