Tuesday at about 4 p.m., police were called to the 3600 block of West Camp Wisdom Road, where officers found a person had shot Rokkett. Rokkett was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the affidavit obtained by the Dallas Morning News, witnesses told police they observed Rokkett and a woman arguing at the store before the woman pulled out a gun, shot Rokkett and fled the scene in a white SUV. Rashonda Lowe, 43, was arrested after the shooting.

According to the News, police spoke with Rokkett’s wife, whom police did not name, and learned a woman had been harassing him and that a restraining order was active against her. Rokkett’s wife identified the woman as Lowe.

Lowe later turned herself in to Arlington police and told police the shooting was a “domestic situation with her ex.”

District 3 councilmember Zarin D. Gracey released a statement following the shooting.

“Let me be clear: this singular act does not define the Red Bird area, nor does it derail the progress we’ve made. The growth happening in this corridor, through new businesses, healthcare access, and housing opportunities, is a testament to what’s possible when community and city leaders work together with purpose,” Gracey stated. “To our residents and partners, remain encouraged. Our commitment to reimagining Red Bird and Southern Dallas as the ideal definition of progress and promise has never been stronger. This is a moment for unity, not fear, and together, we will continue building a safer, stronger, and more vibrant District 3 and southern Dallas.”
