Starting Sept. 8, community members will have the opportunity to see The Seventh Turn, a 20-minute ghost story about gaslighting involving mental coercion and abuse co-directed by Howell and Marta Milans.

The story is based on the Spanish urban legend “La Chica de la curva,” which translates to “The Girl on the Curve,” an urban legend about a hitchhiking woman and naive driver.

The production was filmed entirely in Spain, with music for the film performed by Amy Lee of Evanescence.

Through charitable donations, the film is being offered free of charge as a tool for professionals, educators and organizations that work with survivors of domestic abuse and trafficking, along with a local donor willing to cover ticket costs for those in the community who need them.

Victor Williams, founder and CEO of anti-human trafficking organization Quest2Freedom said the film not only captures the psychological and emotional impact, but also sheds a light on the intimate, day to day experiences of gaslighting that are often minimized or overlooked.

“By raising awareness, it empowers individuals, communities, educators, and policymakers to recognize the signs of coercion and take action before it escalates into more overt forms of abuse,” Williams said.
