The 111,000 square-foot Target planned for Wynnewood Village could be open as soon as late next summer, a Monday filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows.
According to the building plans filed with the state, construction is set to begin on Oct. 23 of this year and will be completed around the end of August 2024.
The construction is expected to cost $16,800,000.
A description of the store’s plans reads that the new Target will also have a Starbucks Cafe inside.
It will be the first Starbucks for the Eastern side of Oak Cliff. The coffee shop already has locations in Red Bird and a counter inside the Tom Thumb on Hampton Road.
Target and the project’s listed design firm, Harrison French & Associates, could not be immediately reached for comment about the planned timeline for opening.
In 2018, New York-based Brixmor Property Group unveiled its plans for Wynnewood Village’s $30-million renovation.
Brixmor’s Brett Milke told the Dallas Morning News his team envisions the future Wynnewood Village as a true heart of the community like it was in the 1950s.
Milke told the New’s Maria Halkias that the village is 88.6% leased and that Target will help attract new tenants. The leasing site notes the two grocery store alone draw more than 20,000 visits per day.
