A Bishop Arts staple since 2009, Dude, Sweet Chocolate will be moving to a new location on July 1.
Owner Katherine Clapner is packing up and moving her business to a new location just down the street, a historic two-story house located at 336 W. Eighth St.
To get through the next month of work with relocation, Dude, Sweet Chocolate has launched a Kickstarter.
“The move of Dude, Sweet Chocolate to the big blue lady at the corner of Bishop and Eighth Street has been a dream for over ten years,” Clapner wrote in the Kickstarter description. “I have spent the past few weeks just walking around and around the space and it is literally perfect. It screams community from its lofty Victorian rooftop. I can see it so clearly in my head that an over 14-year journey has led me to this very special spot.”
The Kickstarter is a pre-pay system for big rewards. Clapner is offering a special grand-opening box of exclusive chocolates, chocolate-making classes for kids, and four grand-opening events that will pair Dude, Sweet Chocolate treats with food from Bishop Arts’ favorite restaurants. If you’re willing to chip in enough, Clapner will custom-tailor a menu of treats to your tastes, for a party in your house during the holidays.
The chocolate shop’s new home will offer the opportunity to host small gatherings and celebrations, from s’mores in the firepit to snow cones in the summer.
