We’re back off and running on the new school year.
Dallas ISD & District 7 Monthly Updates
Dallas ISD enrollment grows: Dallas ISD bucked a statewide trend of decreasing enrollment and welcomed more than 139,000+ students to school this year. This represents the first enrollment growth in Dallas ISD in about a decade, already exceeding last year’s enrollment and continuing to climb. Look no further than this to see that Dallas ISD’s investments in early learning, school choice, quality teachers, and innovative programs are paying off.
Grades are in for Dallas ISD: In the interest of transparency, Dallas ISD proactively shared its projected accountability ratings, and is anticipating a district-wide score of 79, which, if this new system was in place last year, would have represented an improvement from the 76 we would have earned last year. While a “C” rating seems rough on the surface, the Texas accountability system reset that just happened makes a “C” middle of the road and Dallas ISD is at the top of the range and continuing to charge forward. While the Texas Education Agency has been held up from releasing scores due to a lawsuit from some districts, Dallas ISD took the step to share its data publicly. Dallas ISD continues to embrace the new, more rigorous accountability system as well as a more rigorous state test and will continue to focus on improving outcomes for all students and look forward to increasing our grade this year and beyond.
Construction Updates:
- Rosemont Upper Campus School: Work is progressing as expected on Rosemont Upper. We’re still tracking for an opening in the fall of next school year in August 2025.
- Two D7 schools open with a brand new building: Thanks to the Bond 2020 program, both Hall Personalized Learning Academy at Oak Cliff and George Peabody Elementary school have brand new buildings that welcomed students back this fall.
