Southern Gateway Park, which has a projected opening date of Spring 2026, made notable progress in 2024 and over the holidays.
As posted to Instagram, “the holidays did not slow down” the construction crew. Progress includes:
- Structural Steel and metal decking are 100% complete at the Ramp/Zoo Landing structures.
- Steel roof framing/metal decking are complete at the Utility Building.
- Prepping the Truck Drive for concrete placement.
- Prepping for Dumpster Pad concrete placement.
- Water proofing continuing in the Children’s Play Area.
- Foam installation on going around the future Stage Canopy.
- Foam installation following the water proofing in the Children’s Play area.
- Stud wall framing is beginning at the Ramp/Zoo Landing area.
The future deck park will span I-35E in Southern Dallas between Ewing and Marsalis Avenues and will be directly adjacent to the Dallas Zoo, reconnecting historic Oak Cliff.
Gayle and Jim Halperin recently stepped forward with a $23 million gift to the park.
According to the Southern Gateway Park Instagram, construction is currently 35% complete.
