This morning, the Dallas City Council unanimously approved Item 60, the design contract with New Line Skateparks for the Westmoreland Skatepark in West Oak Cliff.
The skatepark will be the city’s first south of the Trinity and has privately raised $375,000 of its $400,000 goal to obtain matching city funds. Today’s action means this project is officially moving forward on design with an industry leader who has worked on skateparks across DFW and the country. The project continues to stay on track and construction is expected to start in Spring 2026.
“Today’s vote means that the project to bring the first skatepark south of the Trinity remains on schedule, with construction expected to begin in Spring 2026,” said Council Member Chad West, who represents West Oak Cliff and initiated the private fundraising efforts two years ago. “I am so excited to see this much needed investment come to District 1 and West Oak Cliff, an area that has lacked city investment for far too long. We need recreation options for all Dallasites and studies show our city needs many more skateparks.”
