So long, Mr. Mayor

Apparently, Mayor Park Cities is resigning today to pursue a higher calling — to run for the U.S. Senate. Which, apparently, is not all that interested in him.

The latest University of Texas/Texas Tribune poll identifies seven potential Republican candidates for the Senate seat being vacated by incumbent Kay Bailey Hutchison. Leppert isn’t one of them, which means he is behind such GOP luminaries as former state Solicitor General Ted Cruz and former Secretary of State Roger Williams. The early choice of potential primary voters is Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, who got 26 percent in the poll.

Enjoy your Senate campaign, Mr. Mayor.

It was nice to see Leppert resign. Very interesting how when he was mayor, he was 100% behind the Trinity River project, now that he is going for Kay’s job, he is says federal money should NOT be spent on the Trinity River project. Interesting how his views changed over night depending on what circle he is in. Politics at this best!
