Bike lanes being striped on Fort Worth Avenue

ft worth bike laneIt is about to become much easier to ride bikes from North Oak Cliff to the Belmont Hotel. Bike lanes are being striped on Fort Worth Avenue, from Edgefield to Sylvan, this morning.

The Fort Worth Avenue Development Group gave the city $25,000 for bike lanes one year ago today. The lanes eventually will span Fort Worth Avenue and Commerce, from Colorado to Beckley.

Andrew Howard of the Better Block posted the pic at left to Facebook. He is conducting a traffic study and he says he’ll be posting his findings and other dispatches about the new bike lanes at bikefriendlyoc.org.

City Council member Scott Griggs, a former executive director of the Fort Worth Avenue Development Group, has pushed for bike lanes on the thoroughfare.
