Emmitt Smith helps students pick out school uniforms during an event at the Ellis Davis Field House Thursday.
Some Oak Cliff students are ready for school thanks to the Pat and Emmitt Smith Charities and Belk department store.
Families from John Neely Bryan Elementary School and Boude Storey Middle School were among those invited to “shop” for new uniforms, school supplies and groceries.
Belk donated $50,000 in uniforms to outfit 1,200 students.
The students also received free eye exams, dental checks and haircuts, donated by the Essilor Vision Foundation, DECA Dental and Toni & Guy.
Albertsons and Tom Thumb served lunch and sent families home with groceries.
