We have chatter here on Back Talk about a few of the Best Picture nods (announced just a few minutes ago): Benjamin Button, Frost Nixon, Slumdog Millionaire. I’ll get to work on seeing the others (Milk, The Reader), which I am ashamed to say I haven’t had time to see yet.
A pleasant surprise—Michael Shannon earned a best supporting actor nod for Revolutionary Road. As I said before, he was a real bright spot in the movie. The only disappointment that I can think of at this point is that Clint Eastwood wasn’t recognized for Gran Torino, I’m not entirely surprised about that, but disappointed nonetheless. (Give me some time and I’m sure I’ll think of something else to complain about).
