Luby’s on Fort Worth avenue closes

We noticed last week that the Luby’s Cafeteria on Fort Worth Avenue is closed. It’s not surprising because I ate there for lunch in October, and the place was dead at noon. I put a call into Houston-based Luby’s yesterday, but no one has returned my call so far. That leaves three Luby’s in Dallas, including one on South Hampton. There are also Luby’s Cafeterias in Duncanville and Desoto.

One of our BackTalk bloggers, Steve Kenney recently lamented that Furr’s was switching from a cafeteria format to buffet, which he suggested is a milestone marking the end of the cafeteria. But I think someone should bring cafeterias back as the new hot restaurant trend.
