There were six Oak Cliff students among the 11 from DISD who traveled to Washington, DC this summer for the Texas Leadership Forum.

Jasmin Escalara, Glenn Vargas, Cristine Reyes and Dominik Reyes of Sunset High School, as well as Dulce Perez and Ivan Salazar of Moises E. Molina High School, participated int he week-long forum.

During the forum, which was hosted by U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions, a Dallas Republican, students got to see the inner workings of government and debate public policy. They attended meetings at the White House, the Pentagon, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, INTERPOL and the Taiwanese Embassy.

Students were chosen for the program based on their academic performance, community involvement and leadership qualities.
