The shop is called DIRT Design Studio, and it’s in the former Decorazon gallery space. Owners Sonya and Chris Eudaley, who were living in a rental house at Bishop and Fifth, scooped up the space before it was even listed.

Even though the shop’s website is dirtflowers.com, it is more than just a flower shop. Sonya Eudaley, 33, has a degree in set design from Texas Woman’s University, and she has 10 years of experience as an event planner and floral designer.

She started her own business in December, planning weddings, parties and other events. She also outfits her clients’ homes with cut flowers and plants for parties, holidays and special occasions. And she designs unique invitations.

The shop will make its debut with a party Sept. 2, during First Thursday in the B.A.D.

By the way, this couple has a cute love story.

Sonya and Chris, 34, went to high school together in Haltom City. In high school, Chris dated Sonya’s best friend. After graduation, Sonya went to Denton and Chris and his girlfriend both went to Sarah Lawrence College. Sonya moved to Boston after college and then came back to Dallas. Around the same time, Chris, whose high-school sweetheart thing was long over, moved back from New York.

They reconnected, and they got married in April. All together now: Aww!
